Tax Collector’s Office

Linda G. Gagne, CCMC, Tax Collector

The Tax Collector’s Office is responsible for collecting the municipal taxes on real estate, personal property, and motor vehicles in order to provide revenue for the programs deemed necessary and/or desirable to operate the Town. These taxes become due and payable on July 1 and Jan. 1. Interest is calculated and collected on all accounts past due on Aug. 1 and Feb. 1. Liens are filed on all unpaid current real estate taxes in the spring.

For the month of March, the Tax Collector’s Office is open to the public Mon., Tues. & Fri.,8:30 AM – 3 PM., and Wed. 10 A.M to 5:30 P.M.

CLOSED: MARCH 20 AND MARCH 22 for annual training.  Emails and phone calls will be monitored.

Closed: March 29th in observation of Good Friday.

Town Offices are always closed on all Thursdays.

Please remember that all taxes are now past due.  You may check your amounts online, or send an email, or give us a call. Allow adequate time in paying delinquent motor vehicle taxes if you need to be released for the hold at DMV.  Taxpayers are experiencing challenges in renewing their registrations on time, only to realize that they are being held up for non payment of their taxes. With three year renewal schedules, the amount can be significant.  See article below for checking compliance issues.

PLEASE DO NOT USE DROP BOX for March interest calculations after 3:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 27th. The box will not be checked again until Monday, April 1st, at which time all payments will be receipted as April payments.

Suggestion: Use online  or the postal service after that 3:00 P.M. deadline.   Online payments will be available thru  11 P.M. March 31st.

PLEASE CHECK WEBSITE FOR CORRECT AMOUNTS.     Updated amounts are on the website.  If your bill is changed due to a certificate of correction from the assessor’s office, the new amount is available on the website the following day.
