The Tax Collector’s Office is responsible for collecting the municipal taxes on real estate, personal property, and motor vehicles in order to provide revenue for the programs deemed necessary and/or desirable to operate the Town. These taxes become due and payable on July 1 and Jan. 1. Interest is calculated and collected on all accounts past due on Aug. 1 and Feb. 1. Liens are filed on all unpaid current real estate taxes in the spring.
The Tax Collector’s Office is STAFFED Mon. & Tues. & Fri., 8:30 AM – 3 PM., and Wed. 10 A.M to 5:30 P.M. Office will be closed on Monday, June 19th, 2023 in observation of Juneteenth.

PLEASE DO NOT USE DROP BOX AFTER 3:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 31st if you wish your payment to be posted with interest calculations thru May. Suggestion: Use online after that 3:00 P.M. deadline.
PLEASE CHECK WEBSITE FOR CORRECT AMOUNTS. Liens have been filed on the current year’s unpaid Real Estate Taxes . Updated amounts are on the website. If your bill is changed due to a certificate of correction from the assessor’s office, the new amount is available on the website the following day.

Messages and Information from the Tax Collector
The mill rate for July 1, 2022 thru June 30th, 2023 is set at 32.265 and calculated on the new revaluation assessments. It is a decrease from the previous year of 36.369 mills.
TO OBTAIN AN IMMEDIATE DMV RELEASE payment must be made by Bank check or Money Order. If you use the online option, you will need to wait 10 business days to have the delinquency removed from the DMV unless paid online by credit card.
