Linda G. Gagne, CCMC, Tax Collector
The Tax Collector’s Office is responsible for collecting the municipal taxes on real estate, personal property, and motor vehicles in order to provide revenue for the programs deemed necessary and/or desirable to operate the Town. These taxes become due and payable on July 1 and Jan. 1. Interest is calculated and collected on all accounts past due on Aug. 1 and Feb. 1. Liens are filed on all unpaid current real estate taxes in the spring.
The Tax Collector’s Office is STAFFED Mon. & Tues., 8:30 AM – 3 PM., and Wed. 10 A.M to 5:30 P.M. During the collection month of January, the tax collector and assessor offices will be closed to the public on Fridays in order to process the volume of payments, certificate of corrections, and the compilation and completion of the Grand List.
Please contact us by phone or email.
Town Offices are always closed on all Thursdays.
PLEASE DO NOT USE DROP BOX AFTER 5:00 P.M. on Wednesday, Feb. 1st if you wish your payment to be posted with no interest calculations on current tax bills. After that time, payments will not be retrieved until Friday, Feb. 3rd, 2023, and interest will be added. Suggestion: Use online after that 5:00 P.M. deadline.
PLEASE CHECK WEBSITE FOR CORRECT AMOUNTS. New Tax Bills for the January Supplemental Motor Vehicles were mailed from Waterbury on December 30th, 2022. Updated amounts are on the website. If your bill is changed due to a certificate of correction from the assessor’s office, new amount is available on the website the following day.
