The Town of Ashford has contracted with the Town of Bolton to provide Building Inspection Services. James Rupert is appointed as Building Official and confirms his appointment of Randy Heckman as Assistant Building Official.
Concrete Reporting Requirement Effective October 1, 2016
Pursuant to Public Act 16-45, a building permit applicant with a project involving concrete foundations is required to provide the name of the concrete supplier and the name of the concrete installer prior to the issuance of a Certificate of Occupancy or Certificate of Completion. This is for all concrete foundations poured after October 1, 2016 and does not apply to site or hand-mixed concrete and not for minor items like residential deck piers, steps or sidewalks.
Online Building Permit System
For the convenience of both property owners and contractors, the Town of Ashford employs an online permit system. Through an easy to use web portal, you may apply for a building permit, attach supporting documents and check the status of a permit. You will need to register as a user of the system which is quick and easy to do. Once registered, you can apply for permits, check the status of permit applications and the results of inspections. Provide as much information as you can on the form as incomplete applications may be rejected.
Note that we are not using this form for zoning applications at this time.
You can pay any required fees on-line, or by mail or in person with a copy of your application. Any payment without a copy of your application will not be accepted.
Before applying for a permit, you should call the Building Department to see what documentation may be required and if there are approvals required by other agencies.
You may scan and attach supporting documentation to your completed application. Documentation not readily scanned such as extensive plans should be brought to the Building Department. If you have any questions please call the Building Department at 860-487-4404.
Adding attachments to permit applications is fully functional. On submitting the permit application a pop up comes up and asks if you want to add attachments as seen below. If you select OK it will open the attachment center. If you have pop ups turned off this would block that from coming up. You need to allow pop ups. PermitLink company recommends the Firefox browser as it is the most consistent.
