Message to the Town of Ashford Taxpayers from the Board of Selectmen re: Upcoming Public Hearing/Special Town Meeting on Ashford School Roof

TO:  Town of Ashford Taxpayers

SUBJECT:  Upcoming Public Hearing/Special Town Meeting – Ashford School Roof

In anticipation of the start of the Ashford School roof project, the Board of Selectmen has scheduled a Public Hearing/Special Town Meeting for Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. in the Ashford School Cafeteria for the purpose of consideration of the issuance of general obligation bonds in the amount of $5,000,000 to cover funding of the project.

We encourage our taxpayers to attend this meeting to consider the history of the project and to better understand the ramifications of putting roof replacement off any further. The Special Town Meeting has been configured to allow in person voting only.  We hope that you, as a taxpayer, will cast your vote to move this much needed project forward.  To qualify to vote you must be a registered voter and/or any  person owning at least $1,000 in taxable property.

The legal notice for the Public Hearing/Special Town Meeting will appear in the February 1, 2023 edition of The Ashford Citizen, will be posted in the office of the Ashford Town Clerk, will appear on both the town’s website (www.ashfordtownhall.org) and Facebook page and will be sent out as a blast message by the Ashford School.
